It looks like raffia. It behaves like elastic.

Two inches wide and woven with the open, sun-bleached texture of a straw market bag — but the whole band stretches, so it sits where you put it and stays there without a buckle to fuss with. It's made from paper rather than palm, which sounds unlikely until you handle it: light, dry, and surprisingly sturdy. Natural is the palest and reads almost cream, tan is warmer, black turns the texture into something graphic.

Why It Found Its Way to Hinoki

The easiest way to make a plain dress look considered. No holes to line up, no buckle digging in, and it costs less than lunch.
