Tooled leather with Western motifs carved into the hide by hand, finished with a wooden pin that slides through to hold everything in place. It works the way a hair stick has always worked — twist, push through, done — but this one is an object rather than a fastening, the sort of thing that sits out on a dresser instead of disappearing into a drawer.

Easiest on second-day hair — twist low at the nape, push the pin through horizontally, and let a few pieces fall. It holds far better than it looks like it should.
