Hinoki is Japanese cypress — the wood our shop is named for, pale and straight-grained, used for bathhouses and temple beams because of the way it smells when it meets water. That's the note this fragrance is built around, kept soft and damp rather than smoky, with waterlily and cherry blossom drifting over the top and the lightest thread of yuzu to lift the whole thing. It reads as clean skin more than perfume: close to the body, quiet, the kind of scent someone notices only when they're standing near you.
Why It Found Its Way to Hinoki
The name was what got our attention; the blend is why it stayed. It's genuinely well made, comes in recycled packaging, and at 10 mL it fits in a coat pocket — the right size for trying a fragrance properly before committing to a full bottle.
