Hand-Poured • Soy and Olive Wax • Bright and Bold
A 12oz candle in Italian bergamot and white grapefruit.
The Hinoki Journal
Citrus with something underneath it.
Most citrus candles are all flash and gone in an hour. This one has cedarwood and musk sitting under the bergamot and grapefruit, which gives it an earthy floor to stand on and makes it last in a room. Made with a blend of essential and fragrance oils, and bold enough that nobody in the house will be neutral about it. Poured by hand in Charleston into an opaque white glass tumbler with a nautical-striped label, with a lead-free cotton wick and a soy-olive wax blend that burns slow and even.
Why It Found Its Way to Hinoki
This is the one for a kitchen or a workroom — anywhere you want the air to feel scrubbed clean rather than perfumed. It reads equally well to everyone, which is rare in a candle.
Fragrance Notes
- Top: Fresh bergamot, white grapefruit, rhubarb, pineapple
- Base: Cedarwood, musk, orange blossom, jasmine
Details
- 12oz
- Soy and olive wax blend
- Lead-free cotton wick
- Opaque white glass tumbler, individually boxed
- Hand-poured in Charleston, South Carolina
✦ Amy's Styling Tip
Let the first burn go long enough for the melt pool to reach the edge of the glass — an hour or two. Skip it and the candle will tunnel for the rest of its life.

We were drawn to Old Whaling for the restraint of their scents — coastal without ever being kitsch. It's exactly the kind of small, everyday luxury we love bringing to our Foragers.
