Straight lavender can be sharp — medicinal, almost. This blend softens it with mountain heather and wild rose up top and lilac, tonka and orange flower underneath, so what you get is closer to a meadow than a sachet. Poured by hand in Charleston into an opaque white glass tumbler with a nautical-striped label, with a lead-free cotton wick and a soy-olive wax blend that burns slow and even.

Why It Found Its Way to Hinoki

Soy and olive wax rather than paraffin, a cotton wick rather than a cored one, and a vessel worth keeping once the wax is gone. It arrives already boxed, which makes it a gift you don't have to wrap.
