The shape is the other half of the story: pleats release from an elastic waist into a full, rounded leg, then draw in at the ankle with adjustable drawstring cuffs so you can wear them balloon-full or let them fall looser. These come in two sizes, S/M and M/L, and are cut generously through the hip and leg. The elastic waist and drawstring cuffs give plenty of range.
