Woven • Tasselled • Handmade in Argentina
A cognac leather wrap belt with a braided center panel and tassel ends.

The Hinoki Journal

Nine feet of leather, and it never gets boring.

The center panel is where the work is — a narrow braid worked through the middle of the strap by hand, running the length of the belt so the texture shows however you tie it. Each end finishes in a layered leather tassel, which is the part that moves when you do. At 107 inches it wraps twice around most waists with enough left to hang properly, and the cognac deepens with wear the way vegetable-tanned leather does.

Why It Found Its Way to Hinoki

This is the one that turns a plain dress into an outfit. The braiding and the tassels are both done by hand, which is why it reads as an object rather than an accessory.

Features

  • Hand-braided woven center panel
  • Layered leather tassel at each end
  • Wrap and tie closure, no buckle
  • Wears at the waist or low on the hips
  • Handmade by artisans in Argentina

Details

  • Color: Cognac
  • Material: Genuine leather
  • Length: 107" / 272 cm
  • Width: 2 3/8" / 6 cm
  • One size

✦ Amy's Styling Tip

Wrap twice and knot at the front so both tassels hang together — that's the version with the most movement. Over a shirtdress or denim on denim, it does all the work.

Hinoki Care Suggestions

Wipe clean with a dry cloth and condition occasionally. Comb the tassels straight with your fingers rather than brushing them.

About the Maker

ADA Collection makes leather belts by hand in Argentina, using vegetable-tanned, chromium-free hides.

We were drawn to ADA because a well-made belt outlasts almost everything else in a wardrobe. It's exactly the kind of quiet, made-to-last piece we love bringing to our Foragers.
