The body runs vertical, the two big patch pockets run crosswise, and a band at the hem turns again — the same fabric, cut against itself three different ways. That's a patternmaking decision rather than a printing one, and it's the entire reason these read as designed instead of basic. A natural drawstring ties over the elasticated waist, contrast topstitching outlines the pockets, and the rise sits high enough to wear with something cropped. Black is the neutral, green is the one people ask about, red is summer with the volume up.

Why It Found Its Way to Hinoki

Our Foragers went through the Driftwood Short faster than we could restock it, so we went looking for the next one. This is a firmer, more structured cousin — same easy waist, more shape through the leg, and three colours to choose from.

A plain cropped tee and nothing else going on — the stripe is doing enough. I wear the black pair with white sneakers all week and the red with flat sandals on weekends.
