Drip Glaze • Vintage • One of a Kind
A tall vintage stoneware vase in green drip glaze over speckled cream.

The Hinoki Journal

The glaze got away from the potter, and that's the good part.

A deep bottle green is poured over the neck and shoulder and left to run — it gathers thick and glossy at the collar, then breaks into long uneven drips down a speckled oatmeal body, each one stopping wherever gravity decided. The form is unusual: nearly fourteen inches tall, a straight column that swells at the shoulder and then pinches sharply in to a one-and-a-half-inch mouth, so it stands like a bottle rather than a vase. Small opening, tall body, and a lot of presence for something under five inches across.

Why It Found Its Way to Hinoki

We buy vintage pottery when the glaze is doing something a factory couldn't repeat. This one is a single piece, found rather than ordered, and there won't be another.

Features

  • Green drip glaze over a speckled cream body
  • Tall bottle form with a narrow tapered neck
  • Curated vintage find
  • One of a kind

Details

  • Vintage — sold as found
  • Material: Glazed stoneware
  • Dimensions: 13.74" high x 4.75" diameter
  • Opening tapers to 1.5"
  • Unsigned — no maker's mark on the base

✦ Amy's Styling Tip

The narrow mouth means one or two stems at most — something tall and architectural, pampas or a single branch, so the height of the vase carries through. Honestly it looks best with nothing in it at all.

Hinoki Care Suggestions

Hand wash and dry. As with any vintage piece, treat it gently and keep it out of the dishwasher.
