The stripe is the part you notice second, and then can't stop noticing.

The print comes out of the block-print tradition — stylized floral sprigs set inside repeating medallion frames, green and periwinkle laid over cream. But the stripe is what makes it: it runs down the button placket, turns back at the sleeve cuffs, and then widens into a full border across the bottom of the skirt, where the floral gives way to it completely. Add a collar, a smocked waist, and deep side pockets, and you have a dress that does a great deal without asking much of you.

Why It Found Its Way to Hinoki

That hem border is an engineered print — positioned deliberately on the panel rather than repeated blindly across the yardage. It's a detail we normally see at three times the price, and it's the reason this one came home with us.

✦ Amy's Styling Tip

I leave the placket buttons undone at the top and wear it with flat leather sandals — the collar does enough on its own that you don't need a necklace fighting it.
